A Year in the South Chilterns
More signs of Autumn on the way

Harcourt Arboretum, part of Oxford University, is one of my favourite places to take photographs in Autumn. I visited during the week in the hope that I would find some early autumn colour. I had in mind a photograph of a single red leaf surrounded by greenery. It was a very windy day and this tested my patience but every now and then the leaves did stop fluttering momentarily. It was a beautiful clear blue day and there was still some warmth in the sun to enjoy while taking a rest from peering through a viewfinder waiting for the wind to ease. I almost had the place to myself apart from a party of school children who were intrigued by how long I was taking to take each shot! The arboretum can get very busy when the autumn colours are at their peak so I enjoyed the space and quiet
